New life Revolution is for 11 – 18 yrs olds. We meet in four different expressions through out the week, Friday night at 7:30pm is our main youth gathering with young people meeting from across the city. Revolution LIFE is a relaxed small group, which meets Wednesday nights, aimed at school years 9 and above. This group and is a discipleship group, where the young people discuss issues of faith and life. Revolution LIGHT is a small group aimed at school years 7-8; Its main focus is bible study and discussion, as well as integrating the young in to the revolution group dynamic. Revolution LIVE is a vibrant and creative expression of Revolution on a Sunday evening every other month. The whole evening church service is taken by the young people of Revolution.

The Last Year
From April 2009 to March 2010 Revolution has developed in many ways.

Revolution has grown numerically – In the last year Revolution has doubled in size, with young people coming from within the church and from many different schools across the City. We began in with 7 in September 2008 and in September 2009 we have over 14 young people coming on a Friday night and by March 2010 25 young involved in at least one expression of Revolution. We created in September 2009 a 16+ group for the college age young people, all of who finished school in July 2009. So we created a new group to connect with them more effectively.

Revolution has grown it’s impact across the city. As part of my work I am involved in weekly two high schools in Wakefield. Cathedral school, where I began working with the lunch time chaplaincy group supporting students interacting with them away from the busyness of the rest of the school, many of the pupils come along to the chaplaincy because they already go to a mentoring groups or another support group. At the beginning of 2010 I began to work in Kettlethorpe high school, after one of our young people from Revolution who attends the school wanted to start an alpha course for his friends. The group began in March and is now running really well. I am also working regularly with the Cross project (a Christian schools work team)supporting them in doing assemblies and different RE lessons in high schools across the City, I have worked in 5 different high school in the last year.

Revolution has grown new young leaders. In the last year we have spent time growing and developing the team involved in Revolution we have 2 regular volunteers, Reuben and Lucy Kay, who have become a key part of what we do. We have also invested time in some of the young people and releasing some of their leadership capacity.

In October 2009 I began a network of youth leaders and youth workers, we gather together to share ideas and support each other. We have also begun to organise joint youth events the first one was in March 2010 and saw 50 young people from 5 different churches and many different schools gathering together.
Over all Revolution has developed and moved forward in many ways. One of the most successful out comes over the last year has been the progress of the Revolution band. We have spent time in training, teaching, sharing and inputing into the young musicians. We now have a solid group of young musicians who regularly play as the Revolution band a ‘Revolution Live’ events and each Friday night.
Through out the last year we have supported two charities as part of our program we ran a ‘Children in Need’ event in November and we also raised money for ‘Hope HIV’ as part of their 10/10 challenge.
