Welcome Thornes

Community Fun Day this year’s event was held at the Methodist School in the Thorne’s area of Wakefield (June 09) and was attended by 250 local people as well as teachers and governors from the school. The event involved 80 volunteers from the church and local community. 20+ stalls and games plus live music and team games added to a fantastic day for the community. Urban Impact Day-at the above Community Day, a display stand invited local people to get involved in tidying up a local play area as well as request help to tidy up their own garden. Local people volunteered and in conjunction with The Big Tidy Up, an area in Thorne’s Lane was put back into public use in August. Sponsorship was received from the local council; the Wakefield Timber Company and a power tool hire company.
