Message - Our Father

Not all of us have wonderful experiences or memories of our Dads, and some I meet have had very negative experiences that have clouded the rest of their lives.

What I am about to say might be difficult for you to relate to, but I want to talk about my Father, who lives in heaven, who is the most amazing and benevolent father anyone could ever wish for.

In what we call the Lords Prayer, Jesus begins with the phrase Our Father.

Some churches repeat this prayer every week and it is a very powerful prayer, but the prayer was in answer to the question How do we pray? and not What do we pray.

Jesus was giving the pattern to pray and the pattern he shows us, begins with God.

In the verses before the Lords Prayer Jesus says that prayer is simply a one to one with God the Father.

We cant impress him with our oratory or eloquence, rather he is impressed by us making time, to spend in his presence to worship.

I can come into his presence because he is The Father, he is Our Father, and above all, he is my Father.

I am free to go to him any time I want to.

I come to worship him, I come to ask for daily bread, I come to ask for forgiveness and for strength, I ask that he might have all the glory in my life.

When was the last time you had a one to one with God?
